About this collection

This oral history collection documents The People's Free Medical Clinic (now called People's Community Health Centers) in the Waverly community of Baltimore, Maryland. The collection was created by University of Baltimore students in "Exploring the Past," an undergraduate historical methods course taught by Dr. Elizabeth Nix in the fall of 2011.

University of Baltimore students interviewed healthcare providers—including physicians, counselors, technicians, and patient advocates—who volunteered at the clinic during the 1970s. Eighteen people were interviewed for the project. To date, fifteen transcripts have been transferred to Langsdale Library Special Collections.
